about

This is the "lost" PARAE album from 2004. It's not very good. It was originally going to be called Indescribable, but at the last minute I decided that was too pretentious of a title, so I changed it to Describe. I have decided to change it back, because I like Indescribable better and it doesn't really matter anyway. These songs are basically overly agonized demos in the general post-punk manner and include some weird experiments in various genres such as melodramatic anti-dance dance songs, underground avant hip-hop, and trying to emulate recent Boredoms. These tunes probably would have all benefited from a second attempt at recording. One of the main flaws I made was not utilizing Tihani on drums on all of the tracks. I was impatient at the time, and there were a couple periods of unemployment, thus I was rather productive. I also didn't know what the hell I was doing when it came to tracking live drums. In my half-assed "remixing" these songs, I considered cleaning up the drum sound but decided that there was a certain charm in their roughness. Also I'm lazy, and the work flow for Digital Performer is still shit (I don't know how I was able to utilize that DAW for so long...) Some of the early drum tracks were recorded with just two $10 Nady Starpower microphones. They did not last very long, and I do not recommend their use - ever. Listening to these songs now, they are better than I remembered, but I am also shocked at how bad my singing is, and I can't vouch for all of the lyrical choices I made at the time. I made one little change on Track 8, as well...it's 2020, and that broken pottery sound effect is pretty hilarious and just as suitable in regards for what was there originally. I have considered re-recording all of these songs, but that would involve convincing my drummer to re-learn them and I've never been one to make regressive moves. Anyway, here ya go Jerry!
